He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Sheffield and Daisy Sheffield (Gordon); and his siblings, Carl, Marian, Ken and Marvin.

He is survived by: his former spouse Elanor Jane Seville; his wife E. Jane Sheffield of McConnellsburg, PA; his son Richard; and his brother James Sheffield of Camp Hill, PA.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
