He was loved and cherished by many people including: his husband Betty; his children, Rosemarie Chromey (William) of North Haledon, Michele DeCiuceis (Christopher) of Stillwater, John Opalka (Chelsee) of Dingman and Elizabeth Poplawski (Edward) of Clifton; and his siblings, Joan Stout of Barnegat, Andrew Opalka of North Carolina and Patricia Opalka. He was also cherished by 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.
