He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar K. Stern and Eva V. Stern (Stoner); his children, Wayne and Deborah; and his siblings, Ruth Anna Tharp, Jesse L. Stern and Merle C. Stern.
He is survived by: his wife Betty F. Heltzel; his children, Donna J. Bolesta (Ron) of Downingtown, Gary L. Stern (Anne) of Martinsburg and Eddie J. Stern (Lori) of Martinsburg; and his sister Evelyn Burns of North Buffalo, PA.. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.
