He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn Sheplar Sr. and Pauline Rose Shirer (Antonuicci). He is survived by: his wife Annie of Martinsburg; and his brothers, Glenn Shirer of Coronado, CA and Paul Shirer of New Smyrna Beach, FL..

The family prefers memorial contributions in memory of James be given to UPMC Home Healthcare and Family Hospice, 20 Sheraton Dr., Altoona, PA 16601.
