He was predeceased by: his parents, George T. Garner and Dorothy Garner (Hall); and his friend Hilda Wills. He is survived by: his son Carl; his siblings, LaRue Rudasill Gutshall and Violet; his grandchildren, Gale Garner and Aaron Garner (Michelle); his great grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan and Rebecca; and his wife Janet Hess of Entriken.
