She was predeceased by: her parents, George H. Sell and Annie Sell (Hoover); her son-in-law Wayne Ritchey; and her siblings, Daniel, Russell, Wilbert, Herbert Sell, Mary Guyer, A. Marguerite Smith and A. Louise Claybaugh.

She is survived by: her husband Charles L. Smith; her children, Cheryl Pote (Joel) of Woodbury, Kenneth L. Smith (Karen) of Woodbury, Sharon Friedenberger (Max) of Woodbury and John H. Smith (April) of Woodbury; her grandchildren, Shawn Pote (Katie), Jessica Douglas (Brad), Jodie Case (Matt), Ryan Ritchey, Jenna Smith and Hailey Smith; her great grandchildren, Ryan, Leslie, Terry, Ty, Hayden, Myah, Tyler, Jordan and Kylie; her stepgrandchildren, Kristen, Mark and Tawnya Claypoole; her sister Dorothy Gochnour; and her sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sell and Anna Mae Rettburg.

Memorial Contributions in Betty's name may be given to the Waterside Church of the Brethren.
