He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Carl and Alma Ruth Barkman (Boor); his wife Dolores J. Barkman (Pepple); and his grandson Alex Barkman. He is survived by: his children, Michelyn Hatch (Richard J.) of Martinsburg, Dirk Barkman (Marcia) of Martinsburg and Lance Barkman (Tammy) of Roaring Spring; and his grandchildren, Dr. Kiel Barkman, Kella Boyer and Logan Barkman.

In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions in Arlan's name may be made to the Dry Hill Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
