He was predeceased by: his parents, James W. Rice and Beatrice Whener Rice; his son John L. Rice, Jr.; and his siblings, Mike Rice, Arlene Groff, Maryanne Geesey and Jimmy Rice.
He is survived by: his wife Sandra Noll Rice; his daughters, JoAnn (Tom Brill) and Paula (Dave Mowrer); and his sisters, Pat (Earl Binkley), Joan Segesser, Carol Reisinger and Linda (Butch Paris).
