He was predeceased by: his parents, Hiram David Shafer, Jr. and Eleanor T. Cordes (Gamble); and his brother Bruce Shafer. He is survived by: his wife Mary Lou Shafer (Davis); his son David Shafer (Xochitl); his stepchildren, Karen Johnson (Scott) and William Jensen (Toni); his grandchildren, Michelle, Cecilia, David Jr., Danny, Anthony, Nick, Eric, Stephanie and Alyssa; his great grandchildren, Ava, Rocco, Gianna, Cameron, Savannah, Travis, Grace, Jase, Juliana and Ariana; his brother Larry Shafer (Brenda); and his pets, Charlie and Lucky.
