He was predeceased by: his father Ivan G. Charles. He is survived by: his mother Martha Charles Sangree; his wife Sylvia "Sib" Charles (Nafziger); his son Nicholas (Marnice); and his siblings, Stephen (Janice), Samuel (Susan) and Eunice Charles. He is also survived by nine nieces and nephews.
