He was predeceased by: his parents, Rudolph G. Herr and Fannie M. Brubaker Herr; and his siblings, James N. Herr, C. Eugene, Jay, Elvin, Richard Herr, Alta Herr, Dorothy Herr and Frances Burkhart.
He is survived by: his wife Gladys V. Shaub; his children, John R. Herr (Kathleen) of Millersville, Kevin E. Herr of Lancaster, Kimberly E. (Steve Reist) of Harrisburg and Kathy E. (Thomas Herr) of Pequea; and his sisters, Jeanette Dombach of Wilmington, DE and Bonnie (Ronald Huth) of Rowley, MA.. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
