He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Merkey and Susan Bruckhart Merkey; his wife Jane E. Hoffer Merkey; his grandson Dalton Merkey; and his siblings, Samuel, David Merkey, Ruth Witmer and Mary Gruber.
He is survived by: his children, Ray (Angie Merkey) of Manheim, Harold (Wendy Merkey) of Manheim and Donna Marie (John Shenberger) of Lititz. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren.
