He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Jr. Piersol and Dorothy Gantz Piersol; his wife Mary E. Kopp Piersol; his daughter Sue Ann (Dean W. Murphy) of Lebanon; his stepchildren, Karen L. (Steve Huber) of Lancaster and Scott Ginder of Manheim; and his siblings, Donna (George Rodriguez) of Brookville, Kristal (Eric Kleinfelter) of Delaware, Kenneth M. (Cindy Piersol) of Milton Grove and Terry A. Piersol of Mount Joy. He was also cherished by two grandchildren, two step grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one step great grandchild.
