He was predeceased by: his parents, John N. Metzler and Mary B. Kready Metzler of Manheim; his wife Rhoda A. Nauman Metzler; his grandson Gregory Crichton; and his brother Eugene K. Metzler.

He is survived by: his children, Arneda (Iain Crichton) of Lansdale, James (Cathy Metzler) of Waxhaw, NC and Thomas (Leanna Metzler) of Yardley; and his siblings, Joann (John Herr) of Lititz, Richard K. (Reba Metzler) of Manheim, Glenn K. (Faye Metzler) of Manheim and Carl K. (Marian Metzler) of Lititz. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren.
