He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Gernert and Lillian Winklebleck Gernert; and his siblings, Katherine, Harry, Thomas Gernert, Elizabeth Fedder, Dorothy Van Scyoc, Eugene Gernert, Arlene Gingrich, Gerald and Robert Gernert.
He is survived by: his wife R. Arlene Hoover Gernert; his children, Cheryl (Terry Fry) of Lititz, Sharon (David Lynes) and Dwayne; his mother-in-law Ann Gernert of Manheim; his grandchildren, Ashley, Benjamin, Christopher and Mason; and his brother Sterling Gernert of Quentin.
