He is survived by: his children, Hope Chapman (Paul) of Moscow and Edward "Willie" Mattern, Jr. (Maria) of Moscow; his grandchildren, Aurleigh Smith (Jamie) and Kathryn Mattern (Kenneth Maconeghy, III); his great grandchildren, Kayden and Landon Smith; and his brothers, Herman and Robert Mattern.
