He was predeceased by: his wife Carole C. Hartman (Clark); his parents, Brooke Hartman and Martha Hartman Sr. (McQuilkin); and his brother Terrance Hartman. He is survived by: his close friend Pat Helfrich; his son Jeffrey S. Hartman (Chris) of Lancaster, PA; and his sisters, Kathy (Robin Walbert) and Jan Wilson. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to First Baptist Church of Allentown with a designation for the Memorial Fund.
