He was predeceased by: his parents, Catherine Kotch and John Kotch; his wife Josephine M. Kotch; and his siblings, John Sr., Thomas, Andrew, Bernard, Robert and Shirley Shook.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Ruhlman (Dave), Joseph R. Kotch Jr. and Paul M. Kotch (Sheri); and his grandchildren, Jake Ruhlman, Chris Kotch, Max Ruhlman and Marissa Kotch. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
