He was predeceased by: his parent Andrew J.; his children, Mary Ann Kachonik and Steven Kachonik; his grandson Gerald Ohmer III; and his siblings, Mary Kachonik, Verna Stout, Edward Kachonik and Joseph Kachonik.
He is survived by: his parent Anna Kachonik (Cingle); his wife Mary Ellen Kachonik (Murphy) of Loyalhanna Township; and his children, Andrew J. Kachonik of Blairsville, Michael G. Kachonik (Daniella) of Naples, James J. Kachonik (Noreen) of Harrison City, Robert A. (Amy), Nancy M. Ohmar (Gerald) and Mary Jane Kurant (James). He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
