He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Sostar and Isabel Sostar; and his siblings, Anna, Joseph, Robert and Samuel Sostar.

He is survived by: his wife Janet Rhen Sostar; and his children, Deborah Barry (Richard) of Wellsville, Kathy Shaak Ream (Jon) of Lebanon and Michael Sostar (Judy). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews.
