He was predeceased by: his parents, Alfred Chappell and Mildred Chappell Smith (Peichard). He is survived by: his wife Sarah (Hartley); his children, Cynthia Souder (Daniel) of Quakertown and Norman Richard Chappell, Jr. (Joyce) of Silverdale; his stepchildren, Tom Allebach (Kathy) of Lansdale, Mike Allebach (Ann) of Telford and Barbara Goertz of Vancouver Island, B. C.; his grandchildren, Jason Souder (Lindsay), Carlene Morley (Joe), Tamrah Gross (Todd), Christopher Mullen (Christina) and Michael Chappell (Neang); his stepgrandchildren, Jarrett Allebach (Hillary), Lauren Shieh (Dan), Jennifer Allebach, Christie Allebach, Sunflower Goertz, Willow Goertz and Demian Williamson; and his siblings, Dorothy Evangelist of Whitehall and Eugene Smith of Quakertown. He is also survived by ten great grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren.
