He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael Borner and Genevieve Hobson Borner; and his grandson Robert S. Borner, III. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Bletz; his children, Robert S. Borner, Jr. (Laurie) of Lock Haven, Trina M. Showers (Tim) of Lock Haven and Tanya L. Miller-Mitchell (Bobby) of Castanea; his grandchildren, Conner James Michael Borner and Joshua Michael Miller-Mitchell; his stepgrandchildren, Kase Russell, Kayleigh Showers and Nick Russell; his stepgreat-grandson Wyatt Mincer; and his half-sister Elizabeth Skene of Connecticut.
