He was predeceased by: his parents, William Chester Shaffer and Matilda Shaffer; and his former wife Joanne Amelia Shaffer. He is survived by: his daughters, Judy Reter (Denny) of Manchester, MD, Jackie German (Mike) of Perry Hall, MD and Darlene Hafenmair (Ted) of Hanover, PA; his sister Loraine Bull of Parkville, MD; and his grandchildren, Kerri Carter, Krystal Martin, Dennis Reter, Jr., Michael German, Jr., Holly Hafenmair and Sarah Hafenmair. He is also survived by eight great-grandsons.
