It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Herbert J. Sell (Littlestown, Pennsylvania), who passed away on January 26, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Eleanor G. Sell of Indianapolis, Indiana.; his parents, John N. Sell and Ada M. Panebaker; his son James Sell; and his sister Anna Mae Sell Gobrecht.

He is survived by: his children, Kathy Sell Walton and John Herbert Sell (Angela); his sisters, Janet Sell Cole and Betty Sell Jones; his grandchildren, Heather Stough (William), Ryan Walton, Christopher Sell, Derek Sell (Megan) and Jordan Taylor; and his great grandchildren, Lauren Stough, Ayden Walton, Katherine Sell and Andrew Sell.

Contributions may be to a charity of one's choice.

“I was deeply saddened to hear that our dear friend and mentor, Herb Sell has passed away. I got to know Herb when I came to Carroll County in 1973 to teach vocal music. I joined Carroll County Choral Society and was privileged to get to know such an incredibly talented musician. His influence in creating medleys of varieties of songs became a technique that I and others used within in our own programming. What a legacy he leaves! There was only one Herbie! We will all miss him!”
