He was predeceased by: his father Michael G. Hellmann; and his brothers, Andrew and Patrick. He is survived by: his mother Lynne E. Hellmann (Spence); his brother Zachary; his niece Rylee; and his nephew Mason.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Matt's honor may be made to the Dravet Foundation or any other children's charity of ones choosing.
