She was predeceased by: her parents, James Musser and Dorothy Freidly (Pugh) of Virginia; and her husband Richard W. Schaeffer Jr.. She is survived by: her sons, Dr. Richard W. Schaeffer III (JoAnn) and Daniel R. Schaeffer (Susan); her granddaughters, Rachel Byler (Josh Byler) and Danielle Schaeffer; and her great grandchild Aurora Byler. She is also survived by five siblings.
