He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Johnson and Sarah Johnson (Dick); his former wife Donna J. Johnson (Burk); and his son Michael S. Johnson. He is survived by: his children, Harry E. Johnson, Jr. and Pamela Buckwalter (Jere); his sister Jean Johnson Olsen; and his stepchildren, Paula Sweigart (Larry), Patty Buzzard (Robert) and Eddie Wanamaker (Ginny). He is also survived by five step grandchildren; and several step great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
