He was predeceased by: his parents, John Thomas Jackson and Florence Griffith Jackson; his wife Ruth Ankney; his daughter Judith Yalenty; his grandson Nathan Crawford; and his siblings, George Jackson, Howard Jackson, Edgar Jackson and Dora Jackson.
He is survived by: his children, Carol Alden, Ruth Jackson and John Jackson, Jr. (Kim); and his grandchildren, Jessie McCarty (Jason), Travis Halterman (Katlyn), Charity Sackmann (Frank), Sara Williams (Rob) and Jason Farley (Rose). He is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
