He was predeceased by : his parents, Francis Gibson and Grace Gibson; his son Jeffrey Gibson; and his siblings, Rodger, Bob Gibson and Maury Willey.

He is survived by : his wife Amelia Gibson (Amy); his son Greg Gibson (Svetlana); his daughter-in-law Maureen Gibson of Wisconsin; his grandchildren, Nick (Sara), Alex, Arianne, Olivia, Hayden, Matthew and William; his siblings, Ken Gibson and Katherine McCluny; and also Tim Gibson (Suzette) of Waldorf, Maryland.

Memorial contributions may be made in John's name to St. Philip Church.
