He was predeceased by: his parents, William Joshua and Ella Mae Montgomery McDowell; his former wife Mildred "Mid" Sloan McDowell; his wife Margaret Dzubak McDowell; his daughter Carol Ann Yarnal; and his sisters, Irene West and Edith Ressler.
He is survived by: his children, Paul McDowell (Suzie) of Ligonier, William R. McDowell (Vicky) of Ligonier, Mark E. McDowell (Rayla) of Ligonier and Ellen Jean Wynn (Dave) of Ligonier; and his brother Clarence McDowell (Eileen) of Tennessee. He is also survived by Step children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
