With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Fred William Hayes of Ligonier, Pennsylvania, born in Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred D. Hayes and Tura M. Hayes (Knopsnider); his wife Regina F. (Ulery); and his siblings, Gerald G. "Gib" Hayes, John Roy Hayes, Harry Galen Hayes and Jean Hayes Butler.

He is survived by: his children, Sherry Hayes Laughrey (Patrick) of High Point, NC, Laurene Hayes Campbell (Richard) of Wake Forest, NC, David Hayes (Heather) of Richmond, VA and Donald Hayes (Christine) of Milford, PA.; and his grandchildren, Kalene Campbell, Jacob Campbell, Carrington Hayes, David William Hayes Jr., Nathaniel Hayes and Colin Hayes. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins as well as many life-long friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Church of the Brethren 405 Route 271, Ligonier, PA 15658 or the Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy Scholarship Fund, 3501 Terrace Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15261 (412-624-5240). (in memory of Fred W, Hayes, 1958 graduate) or Hospice of the Piedmont 1801 Westchester Dr. High Point, NC 27262.

“Fred (Freddie) Hayes lived next door to me in Buckeye. We attended school at East Huntingdon in Alverton, PA where we had most classes together as Fred planned to go to pharmacy school and I planned to become a nurse. We spent many Sunday afternoons at Connie and Donnie Mccloy's house playing monopoly, canasta, or some other card games. Growing up, we were very close friends. I am saddened to hear of his death and I extend my condolences to his family.”
