George Herman Knaak Jr. Obituary
I remember back in the seventies my husband and I wanted to buy a house and my brother Bubby lent us the money for the downpayment. He also drove from Rochester to the house in Lewistown Pa to visit us. He was a good brother. Judith Booth. ~ Judith Booth - December 26, 2020 I am the younger sister of George (Bubby) Knaak. The memory I have is that Bubby was glad that I was born because he was tired of being called the "baby" of the family.
He is gone but will not be forgotten, Judy Booth. ~ Judith Booth - December 23, 2020 This is my Grandpa and I am his "Toots".... Even though he has many grandchildren and great grandchildren, he is my special person. He was flawed...not perfect, didn't talk much and didn't do many things outside of the home, but for me he is the man that was there for me when I was growing up.
He was my rock...He held me in the night-time when I was afraid of the dark. He sat with me in the living room, I at the foot of his armchair, and we watched TV together...and when no one was around he would quietly stroke my head. No words. Just love touches. He was a gentle man who tolerated a lot. He took in everyone who needed a place to stay and gave money to those who asked.
He was humble. And he hated to get new things. He had so many unused shirts and socks and slipper gifts in his drawers! He loved wearing his old red flannels with holes in them. His slippers were always full of rips as well..but he was comfortable! He loved animals...donating to the ASPCA for years. He loved all creatures. In the late of summer he would sit on the back stoop, the sun warming him and let the bees and wasps come check him out.
He would extend his hand to show me that they would not bite if you were gentle. During my teen years he got me out of trouble so many times...so many more than my mom knows about ;)..and even in a time when teens loose sight of their grandparents, he was still my rock. No one I think will ever understand our bond. When I was married he walked me down the aisle.
In the Limo while awaiting our que he held my hand tight and told me he was proud of me and that I will always be his "toots". It was so hard to see him get older over the years, but I had many many more quiet times with him before he passed. He is my grandpa and I am his Toots.
