Frances A. (Neff) Hassinger Obituary
Frances A. Richard Hassinger 95, of Lewistown, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at her home.
She was born on July 20, 1926, in Centre County, and was a daughter of the late Homer L. and Dorothy E. (Ruble) Neff.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her first husband, Clair Richard, who passed June 24, 1987; an infant son, Charles M. Richard and son, Daniel N. Richard, who passed Jan 5, 2016; and second husband, Paul R. Hassinger; her siblings, Agnes C. Neff, Mary E. Bender, Charles W. Neff, Sara M. Shank, and Margaret C. Neff.
She is survived by; a son, Michael S. Richard and wife, Judy, of Lewistown; stepsons, Larry, and Robert Hassinger, of Lewistown; step-grandchildren, Jarod, and Lucas Armstrong; like a daughter, Sharon Wise, and ‘heartfelt’ grandchildren, Justin and Jason Wise and Jenna Kepner.
She was a member of Maitland Church of the Brethren, Women of the Moose and deaconess of the church and missionary committee.
Frances was a High School graduate, Class of 1943, and a graduate of Lewistown Hospital Nursing School, Class of 1948.
She served in the United States Navy from Nov. 1949 – June 1950 as Ensign Navy Nurse.
Frances worked at Lewistown Hospital for 15 years. She worked in Dr. Jay Riden’s office for 18 years and Dr. Gordan’s office, and lastly at Ohesson Manor.
She enjoyed watching Penn State and pro football. She loved flowers, her beloved cat, Maggie, and birds. She loved cooking and baking, especially cooking special birthday meals for her family. She also enjoyed swimming at the YMCA and playing dominoes with her family and friends.
A receiving of friends will be held from 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Maitland Church of the Brethren, with a celebration of life at 2 p.m., with Rev. Jeannine Leister officiating.
Interment will take place in Maitland Cemetery at a later date.
Arrangements are under the care of Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown.
