He was predeceased by: his parents, John Carl and Helen Mahady (Barger); his wife Janice Jean Mahady (Watts); his son William Charles "Billy" Mahady; and his grandson Corey A. Mahady.

He is survived by: his children, James Edward Mahady (Karen) of South Carolina, Diana L. Douglas (Roger) of Lewistown, Carl Eugene Mahady of Lewistown, Robert Alan Mahady of Va, Christopher Glen Mahady of Va and Kimberly S. Compton (Eric) of Va. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
