He was predeceased by: his parents, John Bowersox and Elva Bowersox (Beaver); his spouse Jean Derr; his son John Bowersox; his grandson Eric Sassaman; and his sister Helen Fisher.
He is survived by: his daughters, Paula Sassaman (Larry) of Lewisburg and Deborah Rice of Lewisburg; his sisters, Linda Miller (Kenneth) of Lewisburg and Ruth Clark of Stone Mountain, GA; and his grandchildren, Chris Sassaman (Misty), Shawn Sassaman (Jennifer), Johanna Geyer (Jesse), Amy Zimmerman (Bryan), Lee Rice (Robin Cruey), Kevin Rice (Danielle Boop), Joshua Bowersox (Courtney) and Abbey Bowersox. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren.
