He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward C. Shafer and Helen I. Shafer (Grubb); his former wife Doris J. Shafer (Luckenbaugh); his wife Phyllis Shafer (Wagner); his son Edward P. Shafer; his granddaughter Monica Weaver; and his brother-in-law Warren Hall.
He is survived by: his children, Irenay Weaver (Robert) of Montoursville and Eric Shafer (Robin) of Selinsgrove; his daughter-in-law Linda Shafer of Williamsport; his grandchildren, Brian Shafer (Pam Miller), Elissa Weaver, Heather Shafer, Ryan Weaver (Elisa), Kyle Shafer (Paige) and Zachary Shafer (Hannah); his sister Phyllis Hall; and his nephews, Wade and Gary Hall. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
