She was predeceased by: her parents, Edward Unangst and Anna Unangst (Thomas); her husband Robert G. Gates; her brother Edward Unangst; and her granddaughter Jessica Wigmore.
She is survived by: her children, Janette Hicks (Edward) of Greene, NY, Randy Meredith of New Cumberland, Diana Wigmore and Jacqueline Elias (Gerald) of Manchester, NJ; and her sister-in-law Joan Unangst of Wellsboro. She is also survived by six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; two step children and several nieces and nephews.
