He was predeceased by: his parents, John Gilmer and Aurelia Burson Gilmer; and his former wife Linda D. Gilmer. He is survived by: his wife Ruby Bontrager Gilmer; and his children, Heather E. (Beau Bivins) of Leola and David (Amy Gilmer) of Elizabethtown. He is also survived by five grandchildren and six siblings.
