He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Abner Stern and Georgette Stern (Lichty); his significant other Terry Stern (Masterson); his children, Michele Lesher (Tommy), Leola, Mike Stern and Mark Stern (Aimee); his grandchildren, Darian Pompey, Teron Pompey, Trey Stern, Tai Stern, Johna Lesher, Maryanna Montero, E. J. Montero, Logan Young, Hannah Young and Nathaniel Ireland; his brothers, Gerald Stern (Linda) and Donald Stern (Cindy); his brothers-in-law, Chris Masterson (Diana) and Jim Masterson; and his sister Janet. He was also cherished by his many nieces and nephews.
