He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. and Dorothy A. Wertz, Sr. (Erickson). He is survived by: his sisters, Catherine L. Smith of Lemoyne and Debra A. Forker (Delbert) of Harrisburg; his significant other Sandy L. Stailey of New Cumberland; and his nephew Clifton D. Forker (Aoife Toomey) of Silver Spring, MD..
