He is survived by: his close friend Susie Long; his daughter Kristy L. Mertz of Lehighton; his siblings, Martine (Barry Snyder) of Lehighton, Geraldine Yale of Packerton, Ronald Mertz (Sarah) of Beaver Run, Richard Mertz (Donna) of Mahoning Valley and Larry Mertz (Val) of Mahoning Valley; his granddaughter Hailee Ziegenfus; and his stepgrandchildren, Alma Long, Daniella Long, BrynnLee Long, Hailey Long and Ethan Long.
