He was predeceased by: his spouse Marion E. Kohler (Conrad); his parents, Elwood Sr. Kohler and Martha Kohler (Schlosser); and his brothers, Elwood Kohler Jr. and William "Bill" Kohler.

He is survived by: his daughters, Gigi Owens and Cindy Kohler; his close friend Douglas Moore; his brother Marwood Kohler Sr. (Mary); and his grandchildren, Alicia Owens and Daniel Owens (Shamala).
