He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter J. Kovacs and Mary Kovacs (Pennepacker); his sister Mary Barron; his son-in-law Edward Leasure; and his brothers-in-law, Elmer Specht and Robert Barron.

He is survived by: his wife Kathleen Kovacs (Heacock); his daughters, Deborah Kovacs (Frank Sanchez) of Jacksonville, FL and Kathleen Leasure of Lederach, PA; his granddaughter Sarah Kovacs; and his sisters, Eleanor Specht and Elizabeth Warren (William).
