She was predeceased by: her husband Lester B. Hess; and her parents, Harry Messner and Kathryn Messner (Sharley). She is survived by: her stepson Richard F. Hess; her stepgrandchildren, Daniel S. Hess of Grants Pass, OR and Dr. Rachel Elizabeth Li (Hao Li) of Sioux Falls, SD; and her stepgreat-grandchildren, Ellie and Palmer Li.
