He was predeceased by: his stepfather Robert Carey; and his parent Jeanne Deeds Carey. He is survived by: his siblings, Kimball Carey, John "Kip" Hitz, Joan Deeds, Judith "Jude" Oxley and Virginia "Jane" Walton. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
