He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Leight and Isabelle Leight (Ramsey); his children, Todd (Sarah) and Carla (Daniel King) of Jacksonville, Florida.; his grandfather Todd; his significant other Mary; his brothers, Don Leight of New Castle and Ron Leight of Knoxville, Tennessee.; his former wife Bernadette Cashier of New Castle; his grandparents, Warren, Mary Leight (Booher), Frank and Helen Ramsey (Patterson); his aunt Mae Cunningham (Leight); and his pets, King, Yogi and Charlie.

His favorite charities to which he donated included the Paralyzed Veterans of America, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and the American Red Cross, to which he gave the gift of life countless times through decades of blood donations—leading to a regular call from the Red Cross every 56 days.
