He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard J. Hayes Sr. and Edna R. Hayes (Thompson); and his siblings, Howard J. Hayes Jr., Sharon Blystone and Kathleen Burd.

He is survived by: his sister Melody Burke (Charles) of Eastlake, OH; and also Minnie Bishop of Latrobe. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
