It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Richard Francis Smetanka formerly of Latrobe, Pennsylvania, who passed away on July 11, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Michael J. Smetanka and Veronica Smetanka (Fedinatz); his wife Gloria Jean (Kowalsky); and his brother Thomas S. Smetanka. He is survived by: his brothers, Michael of Texas and John (Sandra) of Derry Twp; his children, Richard (Cheri), Danial of California and Lisa Wendt (Steve) of Gilbert, AZ.; his grandchildren, Valerie, Emily, Chloe Smetanka, Ellie, Cali and Nessah Wendt; and his uncle Sam.

Because of Covid-19 his funeral mass was held on the patio of St Thomas More Church on July 23, 2020 with interment alongside his wife at Ascension Cemetery in Irvine, CA.

“Rick, Dan and Lisa It is with a very heavy heart I write to express deep condolences to you upon learning of the passing of your loving father and my good friend. We kept in touch over the years by phone and his unresponse to me since we last chatted in May 2020 led me to search and feel the sadness today reading his obit on the Gilbert, Az website.
