He was predeceased by: his parents, Torrance D. Strayer and Mary A. Strayer (Hertz); and his siblings, William, John Strayer, Margaret Wolford, Betty Monty and Mary "Jackie" McGinity.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Strayer (Kintz) of Latrobe; his sons, Richard D. Strayer Jr. (Maureen) of Pittsburgh, Ronald D. Strayer (Robin) of Latrobe, Roger D. Strayer (Cindy) of Greensburg and Randall D. Strayer (Jennifer) of Greensburg; his grandchildren, Richard D. Strayer III (Sarah), Shannon Barnickel (Tim), Dr. Eric Strayer (Paris), Dr. Megan Ferlic (Brett) and Jessica Strayer (Tim); his stepgrandchildren, Chad Bender (Marcie) and Cory Bender (Tracy); his great grandchildren, Emma, Avalyn, Savannah, Roman, Hailey, Tanner and Clover; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Alea and Cody; and his niece Kathy Clevenger. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
