He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Mitchell and Katherine Mitchell (Sheminski); his parents-in-law, Sabino "Nino" DiNunno and Gloria DiNunno (LeBlanc); and his brother-in-law John Maffia.

He is survived by: his wife Francine M. Mitchell (DiNunno); his sons, Patrick E. Mitchell Jr. (Maura) and Ryan T. Mitchell (Rachel); his grandchildren, Kaylee (Jack Kruel), Emilee, Noah, Jonas, Jordan, Judah and Levi; his great grandchild Kolton; his sister Mary Ann Maffia; and his siblings-in-law, Denise Buote (John), Donald DiNunno (Marcia), Nino DiNunno (Debbie), Chris DiNunno (Cecilia) and Rich DiNunno (Lisa). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, February 5th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Frederick Funeral Home Inc. (1543 Ligonier St, Latrobe, PA 15650). A funeral Mass was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Holy Family Church (1200 Ligonier St, Latrobe, PA 15650).
